Visit to Guilin would be incomplete without a trip on the Lijiang river. This experience is one of the highlights of a trip through China. The ship takes the visitor past everchanging karst formations, caves, waterfalls, sleepy villages and narrow bamboo rafts carrying Cormorant fishermen. It seems as if one has been transposed into a traditional watercolor painting in another time.
As the river comes closer to Xinping, it becomes broader and peaceful. Feather-like bamboo trees line the banks. The water, even clearer than before, mirrors the passing scenery. An unearthly, unique mood arises.
There are three ways to take the LiRiver Cruise.
The offical tourist boats are available every morning from Guilin bamboo wharf to reach Yangshuo. It takes 4-6hours depends on different water level. In the rainy season, the boats reach to Yangshuo earlier because the river flows faster.
